Unlike other varieties of pesticides, citronella does not  kill Fly's and mosquitos rather it repels them and other pests, reducing the number of mosquitos that land nearby.

One benefit of using citronella as fly and mosquito repellent is that it is safe and non-toxic to humans and animals (and even the insects).
